Available - Nguyen Dinh Dung
Nguyen Dinh Dung (b.1943, Vietnam) studied painting with artist Ngo Manh Quynh. He worked as an illustrator and a cartoonist at the Animation Film Studio of Vietnam television and in the early 1980s adopted a modernist approach, creating his much-acclaimed silk paintings. His works on silk, and later his oil paintings are characterized by strong contrasting color fields and dynamism of forms. Famous for his theatre and street scenes, Dung's works suggest a surprisingly modernistic flavor while still being deeply rooted in Asian tradition.
In the early 1980s his works were considered too modernist to be exhibited in official art spaces so his first solo exhibition was organized at his friend Dang Duong Bang’s private villa as an underground show.
