Tran Dinh Khuong paints with nostalgia for the Vietnamese countryside where he was born. A range of simple, bright, innocent and witty feelings is expressed through whimsical childhood scenes. Buffalo herding, crab and fish catching and children’s games are common. The backdrop for many of his pieces includes rural scenery - going to market, picking lotus flowers and honoring Buddha at the pagoda. Khuong captures his themes in eye catching contemporary decorative compositions using warm colors on his very distinctive lacquer creations.
