Vu Thang is a unique and innovative contemporary Vietnamese artist known both for his funerary inspired primitive lacquers and his oil / mixed media paintings depicting universal emotions associated with the human experience. Creating art since his earliest days as a child, Vu Thang pushes the boundaries of both the traditional and the contemporary with confidence and without regard for how others have created art before him, still maintaining a childlike naiveté and exploration of artistic techniques through his current works.
